Professor Lakshman Senevirathne, the Former Dean of the Faculty of Humanities, assumed duties as the new Deputy Vice Chancellor of the University of Kelaniya, on the 25th of May, 2017 in the presence of Professor D.M. Semasinghe, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Kelaniya. The post of the Deputy Vice Chancellor is enabled in the University after 18 years.
Professor Lakshman Senevirathne obtained his B.A. (Special) Hindi in 1995 and M.Phil. (Hindi) in 2000 from the University of Kelaniya and his Ph.D. (Hindi) from the University of Allahabad, India in 2007.
Professor Lakshman Senevirathne is one of the pioneers in popularizing the Hindi Language in Sri Lanka and he is well known for his expertise in the Hindi language. The books such as “Sinhala-Hindii Praayoogika Shabda Sangrahaya”, “Hindii Viyarana Huruwa” ,“Hindii Kathana Huruwa” (Co-Author: Prof.Indra Dasanayake), “Hindii Leekhana Huruwa”, “Saahityakaar Raamkumaar Varmaa”, “Hindii Naatak : Svaruup Aur Vikaas”,”Hindii Aitihaasik Naatak” and “Dr. Raamkumaar Varmaa Kee Aitihaasik Naatak” are among his publications.
